Salto 1K Contactless Fobs
The SALTO PFM04KB is a compact contactless credential used to identify authorised users within a compatible SALTO access control system. It performs a similar role to a contactless access card but is supplied in a smaller format that can be attached to a keyring.
The fobs are supplied in a pack of 100 and are suitable for issuing access credentials to employees, residents, students, contractors or other approved users.
Each PFM04KB fob contains 4KB of electronic memory and is compatible with SALTO Virtual Network data-on-card technology.

How Do These Fobs Work?
The fob contains a contactless RFID chip and antenna. When the user holds it close to a compatible reader, the reader provides the small amount of power required to activate the chip.
The fob then communicates wirelessly with the reader. The access control system checks the credential and its stored permissions to determine whether the user is authorised to open that particular door.
If access is approved, the reader or electronic lock releases the door. If the fob does not contain the correct permission, has expired or has been cancelled, access is refused.
The fob does not contain a battery and does not need to be charged.
Do these Fobs Need To Be Encoded?
Yes. These fobs are supplied as blank electronic credentials and will not normally open any doors until they have been enrolled and programmed for the relevant access control system.
The organisation’s SALTO system administrator or access control installer uses SALTO management software and a compatible encoder to:
- Add the fob to the access control system
- Assign it to a particular user
- Set which doors the user can access
- Apply permitted days and times
- Set an expiry or validation period
- Write the access information to the fob
