Shop genuine HID FARGO printer ribbons for producing professional ID cards, staff badges, membership cards, student IDs, access cards and other plastic credentials.
The correct ribbon depends on your FARGO printer model and the type of card you need to produce. Our range includes full-colour YMCKO ribbons, YMCKO-K / YMCKOK ribbons for dual-sided cards, half-panel colour ribbons and black resin ribbons.
Which FARGO Ribbon Do I Need?
YMCKO – Full-Colour Cards
YMCKO ribbons contain five panels:
Y – Yellow
M – Magenta
C – Cyan
K – Black resin
O – Clear overlay
The yellow, magenta and cyan panels combine to reproduce colour photographs, logos and graphics. The black resin panel produces sharp black text and barcodes, while the overlay is applied over the colour-printed surface.
Choose YMCKO for standard full-colour, single-sided ID card printing.
YMCKOK / YMCKO-K – Colour Front and Black Reverse
YMCKOK ribbons add a second black resin panel.
They are commonly used with compatible dual-sided printers where the front of the card requires full colour but the reverse only needs black information.
For example, you might print an employee’s photograph, name and company branding in colour on the front, with terms, contact details or a barcode in black on the back.
This avoids using a complete second set of colour panels simply to print black information on the reverse.
Half-Panel YMCKO – Colour in Part of the Card
A half-panel colour ribbon uses reduced-size colour panels and is intended for card designs where colour is only required over part of the card surface.
For example, a card may only require a colour photograph or logo in one area, with the remaining variable information printed in black.
Half-panel ribbons can provide a higher print yield than the equivalent full-panel colour ribbon, but they are only appropriate when your card layout suits the reduced colour-printing area.
Black Resin – Text, Barcodes and Simple Graphics
A monochrome black resin ribbon is suitable when you do not need full-colour photographs or graphics.
Typical applications include:
Employee names and numbers
Membership details
Barcodes
Serial numbers
Expiry dates
Simple logos and line graphics
Personalising pre-printed plastic cards
Black ribbons generally provide a considerably higher print yield than full-colour ribbons, making them a practical choice for applications where only black variable information needs to be printed.
How to Choose the Correct FARGO Ribbon
Before placing an order, check these four points:
1. Your exact printer model
Start with the model printed on your FARGO printer. A ribbon designed for one FARGO printer family should not be assumed to work with another.
2. The manufacturer part number
If you are replacing an existing ribbon, check its part number and compare it with the product listing. This is one of the most reliable ways to identify the correct replacement.
